Windows 7 (English, Windows Seven) is a Microsoft operating system currently under development, which will be the successor to Windows Vista. His story begins with the release of Windows Vista, which Microsoft has already made plans to launch its successor. Windows 7 has already received in the past the code-name of Windows Blackcomb, Windows Vienna to be baptized with his last name-code, which then turned into the final product name. The same in Windows 7 Beta is already quite stable, lightweight, and without many errors.
Origin of name

The use of names of places as the code name of products is a tradition at Microsoft. Over the decades of 80 and 90, various versions of its operating systems have names of cities such as Sparta, a reference to Greek city-state Sparta (Windows for Workgroups 3.11), Daytona (Windows NT 3.5), Cairo (Windows NT 4.0), Windows NT 5.0 (Windows 2000), Chicago (Windows 95) and Memphis (Windows 98).

At the beginning of the first decade of this century, the company broke the tradition of cities to use the name of Whistler (Windows XP), a ski resort in Canada, and Longhorn, which became Windows Vista.

"It does not reflect a big change for us, we already use city name as the code in the past," said Microsoft in a press release
